Learn from the Lord.
Involve yourselves in every single work of the Lord though it seems to be a small work unto you. You may see how Our Lord Jesus has done it and how he has set himself as an example before us. This principle seems quite opposite to the manner of this world where the people do not wish to do even a small portion of the entire work and always try to push it on the heads of the others. This can be seen in your offices, in our home, everywhere.
Look at the following verse: After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciple’s feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. John 13:5.
The Lord himself poured the water into a bason, washed the disciples’ feet and wiped them. Could not He ask the help of his disciples before He had started this work? Will they say- “no” if he asks? You may see that he himself poured the water into the basin! Why? This is an example to you and me. Taking up the work of the Lord and involving your selves in every stage of the completion of the work is really a great attitude which our Lord likes much. Do you really like to do His work? If yes, do you wish to involve yourself at every small stage of His work?
Do the work of the Lord with all your heart. Most of the people differentiate the work. They differentiate by assigning values to the work they do. They see how they shall be considered by the others if they do such work. They cannot see the dignity of the work. This happens in this world. On the contrary, the principles of the Lord are different. He does not see what work you do in His name. He sees how you do it with your heart. For God, there is no distinction between a great work and a small work. For Him, the work done with all your heart is most important. Lord began to wash the disciple’s feet. Washing the feet of others seems to be very humiliating work by this world. But the Lord did it! Why? Whatever may be His work, if you really make your heart ready to do His work, it shall be a great blessing. He that humbles shall be exalted is theme of the Bible. In this regard, consider how He humbled himself before His disciples? Are you greater than your Master Jesus? Then, why do not humble before the world for His name? Do everything though it seems very small thing in your sight or in the sight of the world.
Finally, He wiped the feet with the towel. Learn to complete the work assigned to you. Most of us get excited to start a new project. But how many of them do really finish it? Here, the Lord ended His work by wiping the feet of the disciples with the towel? If He leaves without wiping them, will not they get dry? Is there any necessity to wipe them all with His towel? Yes, it is better to complete a work than to start a work. In this regard, read this verse- Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Luke 14:30. Do you have this attitude to complete His work though the circumstances seem to be difficult to proceed further? Learn from the Lord to finish the work assigned to you. Know and ask Him for which you are appointed on this earth.
