The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. Psalms 2:2-3

Man of this world hates His correction. seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. Psalms 50:17 He has no delight in the word of God. His attitude towards life is to eat, drink and die. This is apt to them –let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die. 1 Corinthians 15:32. Therefore, they love this world more and they love to wander and do whatever they want. Thus saith the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the Lord doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. Jeremiah 14:10.To them, the law of God is a restriction to their freedom and it is a band for them. In their view, freedom is to do whatever they want though it is wrong in the sight of God.

Look at the nature of some of the commandments or law as given by the Lord. Thou shalt not kill. 

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Exodus 20:12-16.

Moreover, the NOT appears to be a restrictions or bands to the wicked. Though this word “Not” does not appear there in all His words, the implied meaning and intention of the Lord always is what a man not supposed to do and thereby he will fall into hell. Understand this use of not in his command for us is not a band that restricts our freedom but is a safeguard to escape everlasting punishment. To them that love to wander, it is hard to accept it but the same is a measure taken for our benefit.

God always warns us what not to do more than what to do in our daily life. Look at this verse- And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat : but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it : for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16-17. God’s purpose is always to save you and receive you to be with Him always. There are many trees in the Garden of Eden. Particularly, there are two important trees to be considered. (1) Tree of life (2) Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told or warned Adam more about the tree of knowledge of good and evil than the tree of life. As you see from the above verse – but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. This use of – ‘not’ by the Lord is more important. This is not a restriction or band for human beings.  He does not emphasize more about the tree of life but instead on tree of knowledge by using –“not” as his style of communication. You see God’s heart is always after us to be saved and with Him.

The emphasis on “not” always increases its scope of interpretation and draws our attention more. The same can be seen from our Lord’s interpretation of the command- Thou shalt not commit adultery. Till Jesus had come into this world, people thought the scope of interpretation of this command only to physical adultery. From the Lord’s point of view – (1) adultery is –Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in her heart Matthew 5:28  (2) whosoever put away his wife, except it be for fornication and (3) whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery

As scope of interpretation of His law or word is increased, the people of this world feel offended. They will not prefer to listen to the counsel of god-fearing people. Instead, they think that this is an infringement of their freedom rights and this application of commandments of the Lord is encroaching upon their freedom /liberties. Now in this world, instead of submitting themselves to the correction of their life by the word of God, they rebel and take counsel how to enlarge their ways of sinful thinking. In this connection, they bring and apply all concepts under the sun like- human rights, freedoms, liberties etc., to make their evil desires fulfilled. They give all kinds of analysis to show their arguments valid before the people. The concepts like human rights, freedoms, liberties etc  may not be wrong but interpretations thereof to fulfill evil desires against the law of the Lord is not valid. This is not the knowledge from above. Surely, this is from their lusts. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish James 3:17.

Whatever knowledge that works against His word is from the Devil. Thereby, these groups of people also pressurize the governments to make laws for their benefits though it is against the word of God. If the nations without the law of God make laws against the intentions of the Lord, it seems no surprise. Now a day, we see some so called god-fearing nations making laws against the word of God. Is it not breaking His law? Is not breaking the bands of God? Does not this word apply to these nations –kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed? If a nation makes homosexuality, which also comes under uncleanness and adultery, as a legal right, does it not mean as breaking the bands of the Lord and His anointed? Leave about the issue of nations. Are you among such group who agree to such thoughts and break the bands of God or law of God? There is no knowledge that supersedes the knowledge of God. Can you stand against Him? Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psalms 1:1 The knowledge of the God is pure and therefore this can be taken as standard while analyzing all your issues. Apply your mind in the influence of the word of God. Never dare to think outside the limits of the word of God.
